The plan achromat objectives are the most common lenses found in the laboratory environment and are more than satisfactory for every day clinical use. The plan fluorite objectives have increased chromatic and spherical corrective properties. The plan apochromat objectives are Nikon's top of the line clinical objectives with even more chromatic and spherical corrective properties than the fluorite lenses.
